About Falls Music School
Why are we different:
We offer guitar lessons that are not only designed to improve your guitar playing skills but they are actually fun and interactive. We focus on the fundamentals (communication, music theory, and ear training), so you can start playing your favorite songs in no time!
You should learn the guitar because you will:
-Make new friends
-Relieve stress
-Express your creativity
-Develop discipline and patience
-Improve your memory
-Learning something new!
What defines us?
1) We focus on lessons – that is our number one priority.
2) Both guitar and voice have structured programs that focus on fundamentals. These programs go home with the student in a binder so they know what to practice each week and can track progress, practice, and results.
3) We have programs for ages 4 year old to adult. We go into retirement homes and day care centers so we have experience teaching all ages.
4) We encourage students to start at the age of 4. The younger you start, the better off you are!
Our Instructors:
David Vance – Guitar
David Vance started his musical journey in the late 70′s, heavily influenced by bands such as The Eagles, ELO, Styx, Journey, Toto, Rush, Def Leppard, Pat Benetar and Boston. He sang and played guitar in a number of local bands back in the day. After a hiatus from music for a number of years, he dusted off his guitar and began helping others start their musical
journey. He focuses on beginner and intermediate guitar training with an emphasis on the core components of music – melody, harmony and rhythm. He also runs the website www.learn-to-play-rock-guitar.com. In his spare time, David writes and records. You can check out his debut instrumental single “Beginnings” at www.sonicalchemycd.com.
Mike Lowden – Guitar
Mike Lowden has been playing guitar for as long as he can remember, and has found a love of teaching it. Mike has education from Berklee College of Music in Boston and the University of Akron Jazz Studies program. Jazz is a very strong love, but he is a self-described “music nerd” who listens to pretty much anything and everything. It’s not uncommon to see him playing classical music at a library or public park, with his own rock band, filling in for a country or heavy metal band, and a jazz gig all in the same week. Mike’s teaching style is completely personalized for each student, rather than using “canned” lessons for everyone, to help meet each student’s personal goals. Check out his band From Borealis.
Kathleen Moreland – Voice
Kathleen Moreland is a singer and recitalist living in the Cleveland area. She is a soloist with West Park United Church of Christ in Cleveland and sings in several area choirs including the Cleveland Pops Chorus,Blossom Festival Chorus andChoral Arts Cleveland. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Cleveland State University with a concentration in voice and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music History at the University of Akron. Her musical focus is on the repertoire and composers of the Great American Songbook and she is currently writing a book on the topic. Kathleen is a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Assn.) and NATS (National Assn. of Teachers of Singing), which is the largest association of professional teachers of singing in the world.
