About Samuel Justin Welch
I grew up in Evergreen, playing snare and tenors for the high school drum line. After high school I went on to play with The Milbridge Brothers and Shotgun Jubilee for a number of years, while also teaching at M&M Music. In the fall of 2008, I was a founding member of Mighty High, a tribute to Jerry Garcia. With a wide range of musical genres, this gave me the opportunity to dive into funk, jazz, bluegrass, rock and jam scenarios with some of Denver's finest musicians.
I have performed hundreds of shows, from small clubs such as The Little Bear Saloon, Cactus Jack's, Dulcinea's, Sancho's, Old Town Pub, 320 South, Ancient Mariner, Highland Pacific, Oscar Blues, Hayden's Post, The Q, Wort Hotel, to bigger venues; the Fox Theatre, Mishawaka Amphitheater, Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom, Quixote's True Blue, The Knotty Pine, Town Square Tavern, multiple festivals, and the Evergreen Lakehouse Concert series.
For a couple of years, I lived in Jackson, WY to play with the Jackson Hole Big Band, Maddy and the Groove Spots, and The Deadlocks.
Now I am back in Colorado, consistently performing with Mighty High and Natural Motives.
