ABOUT THE OPERETTA:
Jazz meets Operetta in the exciting American Premiere of Paul Abraham’s 1932 hit, “Ball at the Savoy.” This sexy, danced-infused operetta embodies the best of Weimar-era Berlin as a clever wife serves up a tasty dish of revenge to her unfaithful husband. The show set Berlin on fire in 1932 with its infectious music, dancing and ravishing star, Gitta Alpar, until it was shut down by the Nazis. Chicago Folks Operetta’s production will feature a 17 piece orchestra, singers, dancers and a new English translation.
