I asked my parents if I could start to learn the violin when I was seven years old and I have played since, beginning with classical private lessons, starting with local youth orchestras and smaller chamber ensembles. Throughout many transitions in my life, violin helped me build a discipline and practice that allowed me to create, express, and learn deeply.

Once I was in high school I was able to concentrate on music more seriously, which brought me to the local community college after school, where I would take lessons with the string director, along with playing in chamber ensembles, and symphony orchestra. After graduating high school, I continued to earn my associates degree in music and concentrated with private instruction, music theory, jazz improvisation/ensemble, symphony, and chamber music. Since my teacher was the string director, it allowed me to become a teacher’s assistant, and I began to teach a few private lessons. This experience made me realize how much I enjoy teaching, how it made my own technical ability more clear, and I was able to share the gift of music that made me fulfilled in my own life.

I then continued to graduate with my bachelor’s degree in music from San Jose State University, which furthered my development as a musician, and helped me become a full time private and group violin teacher. Now, being close to 10 years as a private violin instructor I am in the process of completing an MBA, which I intend to incorporate my musical background and further my career. I feel especially confident in my ability to empathize with everybody in their own journey to play the violin, and I feel that I can help each student in their own individual approach. I am currently staying engaged in my community by taking classes for jazz improvisation at the Berkeley Jazz School, performing in local symphonies,and I continue my own practice with my teacher and am very active in always furthering my musical education.
