About Jennifer Rossetti
Whether classical, jazz or pop, learning to play or sing can be fun for everyone! I believe that my job as a teacher is to simply bring your musical talent to the surface so that you can improve in skill and, most of all, enjoy making music! Each of my lessons include the following:
- A free introductory 30 minute lesson for new students
- A full 30 to 60 minutes of quality instruction
- Customized curriculum for each student based on their interests, abilities and experience level
- A balanced focus on all areas of musical instruction: theory, technique and repertoire
- Development of a personalized practice schedule
- A focus on fun, fun, fun...I thoroughly believe that students should enjoy learning music
"Practice makes perfect", and I encourage my students to set a daily practice schedule to help them meet their goals. I teach students from ages 5 up to 95! Lessons with my students are structured and planned, encouraging and, above all, a TON of fun!
About Jennifer's Performing Career:
Less than one year after moving to New York City, soprano Jennifer Rossetti has quickly become a bright young star in the city’s vibrant opera community. In August 2011, in her New York City debut, Ms. Rossetti performed with the dell’Arte Opera Ensemble as Zerbinetta in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos. Her performance was critically acclaimed and as a result she was recognized as one of the top 11 singers of 2011 by the opera review Superconductor. Critic Paul Pelkonen said of Ms. Rossetti, “…(she) is the star”, and “…she met the challenges of the ten minute ‘Grossmachtige Prinzessin’ including the high F notes called for on the Fioratura passages. More importantly, she imbued the parts with an easy sexuality and had good chemistry with the four players in the troupe.” During the 2012 season, Jennifer Rossetti is maintaining a busy schedule with performances with Encompass New Opera Theatre (Jenny in Rorem’s Three Sisters Who are Not Sisters ), Bronx Opera (Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel), Manhattan Symphony Orchestra, Manhattan International Music Festival, ROLE – NYC opera workshop and the Bach Cantata Vespers Concert Series.
Jennifer Rossetti has one passion in life: to communicate to others the life-changing beauty of music, and to teach her students to do the same.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Michigan (rated the #3 Music School in the United States by the Princeton Review, 2010) with her Master's Degree in Music. While there, she studied with some of the world's leading music educators. Before that, she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music. Prior to that she completed 15 years of private lessons in piano, voice and violin.
Since her studies at Wheaton College Conservatory, Jennifer has taught both piano and voice to kids and adults of all ages. Jennifer's teaching philosophy focuses on achieving real results for her students, and her students have consistently excelled during their performing opportunities. For example, during the 2010 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) music competition, 9 of her 10 competing students were finalists.
