I Choose My Fellow Musicians

I have been very fortunate to perform in many venues over the past few years. In doing so, I have asked musicians that I have built a rapport with to continue making music with me. Recently a respected musician that books for a respected venue in my area was willing to book my group for a return date. Although I wanted to return I could not. The reason? The individual wanted a lineup of "names" that he approved of/people he liked. The musicians I perform with help to create the soundscape and bring my music to life. This is unacceptable and insulting. I will choose my fellow musicians over a venue!
